Shorts top give him a nod, then faces the cart. They make there way on to the bus, it's full of other ponies, but they are all quiet. Some sitting alone, others sitting together. There is one set that is still vacant, so Shortstop thinks that would be the best for them and quickly takes it.
Some of the ponies were shoving each other and picking on the smaller ponies, nut none if them tried to mess with Mac. He settled in beside Short Stop and peeked out the window. He waved with a hoof, then gave Short’s family a small smile.
Fluttershy trotted through apple orchards, looking around for Big Macintosh. It had been so long since they'd seen each other. All the preparations for Spring after the Winter Wrap Up really kept her busy. Now she finally had some free time and really had missed the big stallion. "Big Macintosh..." She called softly, looking around.
Big Mac was gently bucking what was left of the snow on the trees, since he and the earth ponies were done with their sowing and seeding. It hadn’t been nearly as hard as last year thanks to Twilight Sparkle, but it was never easy.
He heard someone call him and stooped in mid-buck to look around his tree. He spotted Fluttershy and smiled, blushing just a little.
“Evenin’, Fluttershy. Didn’t work yerself too hard, did ya?” He asked, meeting her halfway.
"Just a sec." He turns to his family, not saying a word. After a brief pause, they all gather together to hug each other. His dad looking the strongest of them all, his mother completely in tears, and his sister looking very hurt and worried. After a few moments of this, they break apart. His dad looks him in the eye, "You be strong son... I know you'll make me proud." Shortstop nods at him, turning back to Mac, walking up to the stop, just in time for his mother to start breaking down.
Mac hugged his family as tightly as he could without hurting them, sniffling loudly. He rubbed his wet nose and gave them all a kiss on the head before turning.
He gave Short Stop a nudge with his shoulder. “Let’s do it.”
She smile's at him, tears still in her eyes. "Well you better," said the younger mare, "... because that's my brother." The younger mare has a light pink coat with a brown mane and blue eyes. The mark on her flank is a needle and thread. She looks to be no older than Applejack. She glances over Macs shoulder to see Applejack and Apple Bloom. "Seems I'm not the only one losing a brother. I'm Stitch."
“Guess not…” Mac wanted to shake her hoof, but Apple Bloom started to sob again.
Luckily for him, their ride was arriving. A long carrage pulled up along the road. Mac sighed and looked to Short Stop.
“Ready?”
Nails gives him a smile. "Oh you'll do just fine. I made it through when was my sons age, and I'm sure you guys will have no problem." He looks behind him to the older of the two mare. She has a light pink coat, and a black mane with the same color eyes as Shortstop. On he flank is the picture of a sun flower. She comes up to Mac, tears in her eyes. "You'll look after my son... won't you?"
The mare was beautiful, but in a motherly way. Something in him wished his own.mother could see him off, but he was grateful for the family he did have.
“Don’t worry, ma’am. Ah’ll take care uh him like he was my brother.” He promised.
"It's alright Mac... It's not easy for any of us." He looked back at his dad. His dad had the same coat as him, but had a brown mane with blue eyes. The mark on his flank was a hammer and nail. The older stallion came up to the two of them. "You must Macintosh. My son has told me about you. I'm his father, Nails."
Mac shook Apple Bloom off his leg and shook hooves with Nails. “Nice meetin’ ya, sir. Ah’m glad ta habe yer son ass friend,.’specially goin’ where we’re going.”

A week passes by. Shortstop is seen carrying a saddle bag with him on his way to the stop. With him are his parents and younger sister.
It was a long while before Mac arrived, and he wasn’t alone. On his hind leg he dragged Apple Bloom, who sobbed and whined.
“Don’t go! Ah need mah big brother!! Who will teach me about apples?” She pouted. Big MacIntosh sighed and continued to drag her. Applejack had come with them, giving a hurt look.
“What the hay am Ah? Chopped lettuce?” She snorted.
“Sorry Ah’m late.” Mac gave Short Stop an apologetic look.
"I better get headed home." Shortstop made his way to the door. As he stepped outside, another stallion was out front, wearing a uniform. "Who are you?" The soldier just gave him a smile. "You did something very important for him. I'll make sure it doesn't go unnoticed." The stallion leaves, and Shortstop can only blink at him. He shrugs, and then starts his long walk home.
